Why Being Fat Can Make You Poor
September 14, 2007
Have you gained weight since starting your own business? If so, you’re not alone. But the scary thing is, weight gain can damage your wealth. And JoLynn explains why in Can Weight Loss Make You More Money?
Think about it, when you put on weight, your clothes don’t fit right anymore and you feel less confident. And this can have a knock on effect on your business, because lack of confidence in one area of your life has a knock on effect on other areas.
Those of you working from home are especially at risk. Yesterday, I had to buy a new chair, because I kept getting stuck in the old one. And Bloggrrl has confessed that her butt actually became the couch this summer.
But, don’t worry, you can reverse this effect. JoLynn from the Fit Shack explains how, in this excellent motivational post: 6 Weight Loss Motivators from Walt Disney, which was inspired by my post What You Can Learn From the Man With No Shoes

Got something to say?

I’ve ballooned and shrunk several times during the course of this year! Stress related. The clothes issue is a problem when things are bad - you can’t afford new clothes, you have time to exercise, and weight gain does affect your confidence (and energy levels).
Hi Catherine,
Thanks for linking to my article! I really like how you wrote about your own experience, and you’re so right that weight does affect your level of confidence, which can then bleed over into the rest of your life.
You also brought up a good point about working at home. I hope your new chair is comfortable, that’s so important.
Hahahaha
I know you mean. I am in good shape right now, but I haven’t been exercising a lot lately.
I am alway on and off with almost everything. I used to run every morning and exercise about 2 hours a day because I felt really good when I looked in the mirror, that even encourage me to do more.
Now, I barely exercise. Thanks for bringing this up…I have to do something about this…I been thinking about it for several day now and it’s not easy to try to exercise again when you have put it off for weeks.
P.S. All of your post are so informative and helpful! Thank you.
Hmmm, I think driving is the biggest enemy in most of the western countries. When I lived in Tokyo or in Amsterdam, I did not gain, because I was walking to stations, or to stores every day. In the US, I do gain weight because I drive everywhere, and it is less safe to walk around outside. But I still try to find an opportunity to walk more. Surprisingly, by walking 15 minutes a day can do a lot for your health.
I think this is 100 percent true! You’ve got to get your groove on to project the confidence that makes people have it in you!
