Who Are The Great Female Bloggers?
September 15, 2007
Lists are popular on the Internet. But few female bloggers make it onto the top blogger lists. Maybe it’s because they’re all compiled by men.
It’s not hard to notice that sexism is as abundant in the blogosphere as it is in the real world. Earlier this year, Kathy Sierra had to close down her blog and call in the police when she began receiving despicable death threats on her popular blog.
All Kathy had done to deserve this was to be a woman and a successful blogger. And she has not blogged since then, but you can view her previous posts here.
Becky at Preblogging wants to start a list of female bloggers. She has asked Mark who compiled the top 100 bloggers list to help. But, I personally think Becky should compile the list. No disrespect to Mark – he did a great job on the last list, but it makes sense that a list for women should be compiled by a woman.
To join the list or nominate your favourite female bloggers please check out Becky’s post here.
Becky has listed a few female bloggers she would like to see on the list (thanks Becky). And I can think of a few more off the top of my head including:
JoLynn: The Fit Shack
Asako: Before The Hatch
Kathy Sierra – Creating Passionate Users – it would be great to see her blogging again.
Shona – Rich Minx
Gala Darling – Icing
And I bet there are loads more female bloggers out there too. Visit Becky’s post now to join the list. And why not put a post on your blog inviting your favourite female bloggers to join?

Got something to say?

Hey, thank you very much, sweetie!
I am asking for permission to use your “6 Things You Can Learn From the Man Who Had No Shoes”

In my new book: “Are you Stuck in your Past?”
You are welcome Gala. I love your blog.
Hi WL Cati – I have checked out your website, which is very inspiring, and you are welcome to use 6 Things You Can Learn From the Man Who Had No Shoes in your book.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you. I will email you later.
And i wonder how come Catherine Lawson is not on that list ?
your posts are lovely and i like passing by and checking on them every day. Another girl i would see on that list is the googlelady of googlelady.com (personaly found some other great female bloggers in the past but lost their URL’s since i formatted my PC).
What Becky was not suppose to do is let others know about this list before she even makes it. What if i become evil enough now and I draw up a list of 50 woman bloggers before her? Actually, I might be doing that
(i don’t remember I have been this evil before).
Cath, you’re definitely on the list! Another to be included is Kate over at ladiesinthered.com.
Wow Catherine, thank you so much!
I was also wondering why you weren’t on the list but then I checked Becky’s post and see that you are on her original list.
I agree that the list should be compiled by a female blogger.
@JoLynn It would of have been a gentleman move to compile the list a male tho
at least you would not say that Man Don’t Think About Wemen. (Hell yeah we do, all the time, even when we code
)
Thanks, you made my Sunday!
Catherine, thank you so much for your kind support on my blog! I hope to keep up, Success Passcode is my authority.
I checked all the blog sites listed on your list as well as Becky’s and Enkay’s list. I am so encouraged to see so many great blogs by colleague women. Each site has very unique spike and shows a lot of creativity. I should not make any skewed comment, but I truly think women would do very well in blogging. (And men would do so as well, of course)
And I really liked Kathy’s blog. I also hope she will return blogging as well.
Thanks everyone. You are all very kind. I didn’t check with Becky yet, but I’m hoping she’ll have the list compiled by a woman.
Thanks a lot for this neat idea! It;s time women gets a little ‘attention’ on the blogosphere, lol…
So yes, I joined the list too!
Jocelyn
It’s great that us women bloggers are getting noticed on the net! I would love to be added to the list!
Jocelyn and Sandy – Thanks for dropping by. I’m glad you’re both joining.
I have made a little head way with the list. I just need a few more days to make it that little bit polished, and I am still fighting with an algorithm on how to rank sites.
But it will be coming soon
Becky
Great news Becky. I thought it might be a struggle to rank the sites, because I think the top 100 also used the keywords “making money online,” and not all women’s sites are on that topic.
I’m sure you’ll get it right and most people will just be ecstatic to be on the list.
