Don’t Get In A Bloody Yellow Taxi

August 12, 2008

I’m back – no thanks to those bloody yellow taxis. We flew from Mexico to Newark yesterday morning and needed to take a taxi to JFK for our flight to Heathrow. And I really thought we wouldn’t make it.

Those New York taxi drivers are crazy. He literally flew over the Verrazano bridge. I didn’t even have time to take a picture. And Stuart still has nail marks on his hand – it was terrifying.

A massive thank you to everyone who kept the discussion going while I was away and kept this blog alive. Although I’d prewritten all my posts – I didn’t get many opportunities to access the Internet. So your input really was appreciated.

While I was away, I did a lot of thinking. And I’ve come up with a great way to collectively market our blogs, or websites, for everyone who drops by here. So, if you’re not already subscribed and you want to drive heaps of traffic to your blog, click here to subscribe in a reader, so you don’t miss out.

Welcome back Catherine! Can’t wait to hear the results of all that thinking you did :-) I hope the nail marks have faded from Stuart’s hand by now.

Um . . . well, I was going to say something about NYC traffic, but guess not . . . too much to contain in a comment section . . .
Glad you are back safely, Catherine.

    Welcome Back Catherine,

I’m hoping the taxi ride didn’t take away from the hopefully relaxing time you had in Mexico. I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip and your upcoming ideas.

    Welcome back!

They do drive as if the have a death wish. I sometimes wonder, how unhappy a person must be to drive like that.

Hi Jamie Thank you. I had a great time. Mexico is a beautiful country.

Hi Davina – thanks – the nailmarks are fading now. But it was the first time I actually felt happy and safe getting on a plane.

Hi Akemi – it really is a crazy place isn’t it? Driving in London seems pleasant in comparison.

Hi Barbara – It was the first time in years I actually felt relaxed on vacation. Will email you and get some feedback on the new ideas. Then I’m going to write a post and get everyone’s input.

Hi Vered – Good point, they must be really unhappy. I’m still wondering if the guy who drove us was on drugs. Maybe they need them to cope with the stress of their job.

Thanks Robin – I hope you’ll love the new idea. It’s very basic so far, so I’m hoping everyone will give their input and help turn it into something great.

Hi Mike – I got your email while I was away but I couldn’t access the control panel. I’ve just been checking it out now and for some reason Askimet put all your comments in spam. I’ve fished them all out now.

This happened to Vered a while ago and I have a feeling that it was because another blogger put her comments in spam out of spite because of some blogging war she stepped in the middle of. I’m wondering if a similar thing has happened to you?

Trip was excellent thank you. So many interesting things to see and do. The mayan ruins were amazing.

Welcome home – and I’m glad to hear you survived the taxi ride. We have a friend who drives like that. We were in the car with him yesterday and I wasn’t sure we’d get home without serious harm…

Thanks Alex. Having a friend who drives like that is not good. Unless you want to suffer the consequences, I guess you’d be better off telling them you don’t want to get in their car because their driving sucks. It might offend them but it’s better than the alternative.

    @Cath
Yeah, I don’t plan on being in the car with him again…
