Which Prize Would You Choose?

November 26, 2008

Are you a total loser when it comes to competitions? Is it because you never win – or are you always the one left with the last crappy raffle prize that nobody wants? If you could have a say in choosing the prize, would it tempt you to enter?

A few folk have approached me to offer competition prizes on this blog, since I ran the show your ass competition. But if I do run more competitions, there’ll be no more ass showing for a while.

To persuade more people to enter (obviously, hundreds of people did not send in a pic of their ass), I’m going to make the competitions easier – you may have to do no more than answer a question in the comments section.

But I’m not going to pawn you off with any old crap. I will only be accepting competition sponsorship from folk who are dishing out great stuff that you really want to win.

So let me know what sort of prizes you’d like to see and I’ll find sponsors who are willing to donate them. Read through some of these ideas, tell me which ones you like the most, or suggest some better ones in the comments section:

Marketing materials for your biz – eg. postcards, business cards and flyers.
Books and ebooks on sales and marketing.
Custom designed blog theme.Business Courses.
Life coaching and business coaching.
Advertising
Search engine optimization books and tools
Motivational Books
Webhosting.
Copywriting Services
Psychic Readings/Soul Healing
PC Software
PC Hardware

Do you want to see more competitions on this blog, or do you think they’re a waste of prime Internet space. Which of these prizes appealed to you most? Or do you have some better ideas for competition prizes? Please share in the comments section.

I have to say I don’t think it is a waste, maybe that is because I want the Copywriting Services! I am in terrible need of this…

I’m not too fond of blog competitions. But if I had to choose a prize, a custom designed blog theme or SEO material would be good.

SEO books would be my choice.

Hi Cath. I’m more competitive than I’d like to admit; must be the Aries in me. I’ve always enjoyed competitions and games. Competitions can really pump up the energy when they draw the right crowd.

I’d be able to sponsor a couple of these prizes, but most of the items on the list I’ve had a lot of exposure to over the last couple of months. Motivational tapes would tweak my interest.

Wow… some great choices there. I would have to go with the SEO material, however as we all know how valuable good content it the Copywriting services are a close second.

    …for great copywriting services, hire…

Okay! Okay! No pitches, I promise!!

Your list looks much like the one we had for our Sticky Business contest, covering pretty much everything a business needs.

I like books or gift certificates, personally. They’re cheap, so many people can win, they’re easy to ship, they can be exchanged for other books.

I would have to say SEO, a custom theme, or life coaching.

Hi Vered – custom designed theme or SEO sound cool to me.

Hi Brad – another SEO guy. Totally agree – best way to get qualifying traffic to your website.

Hi Davina – I’ll try to get you some motivational sponsors. And I’ll email you re: the coaching since we can suss the best way to go.

Hi Robert – SEO seems popular. I agree that copywriting would be awesome. I’ll try my best but it’s hard to get these copywriting folk as they can command a fortune.

LOL James – are you volunteering? If I’d realised, I’d have borrowed your list instead of having to think.

You’re a man after my own heart. I have to say books or certificates would be my bag – especially if they were Amazon certificates.

Hi Kim – you also like SEO, themes and lifecoaching. Everyone seems to want SEO stuff. That is definitely something I’m going to be including.

Cath so very true. However it might be worthwhile offering an exchange of service so that they can offer a similar deal?

Not only will this ensure your prize is free, but also help build a close network of complimenting service providers. Brian Clark at Copyblogger has written a whole series on similar events – or rather had others to do so for him :)

Hi Robert – That’s a pretty good idea. So we’d both offer competitions on each others sites right and offer services as part of the prize?

That may work out really well, as I’m launching a new service on here soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
