What a great list! This must have taken you a considerable amount of time to research and put together. I found quite a few I’m going to check out.
And The Bucket List is a good movie. Lots of subtle little lessons in there in addition to the main story line.

Yeah, I get to putting stuff like this together and get so involved in the research and finding cool stuff, that I forget about writing my post! LOL
We had a good Christmas. The kids got lots of cool stuff they’re enjoying playing with. And of course, the heaps of snow we had to play in. As much as I really dislike snow, it was fun to have it around for the kids and having a white Christmas was kinda cool.

This is a fabulous list and with great links, I can’t even get to writing my post this morning for hanging around here and clicking away! Thank you so much…for all your time and research.
Do you remember a post where you wrote on my blog about could not eat Ambrosia Creamed Rice because of a TV show when you were eating it…and my IT person a day later sent me an article about a delivery truck that exploded when delivering Ambrosia Creamed Rice? Well, my IT person got us a 1/2 case of Ambrosia Creamed Rice for Christmas…it was way too funny…I put a can of it by my kitchen window so I can laugh at it all the time…:)
I will be in London July 20th , Scotland for about a week, Wales a couple of days and then through the Lakes toward London fly out on the 9th of August…

The list of haunted places would be fun to explore. Edinburgh Castle in Scotland looks mysterious — I’ve always been drawn to castles. I’ve already met Shirley MacLaine so that’s one item ticked off my list (not that I really have a list). Before I lost my job I was planning on touring Europe. And, if I could get past my fear of heights
I’d love to see the Earth from outer space. One more… to build my own log cabin to retire in.

Come on! That was a horrible movie! Yes, I know this post wasn’t really about the movie, but so-called “bucket lists” have been around for hundreds of years. Coming up with a list of things to do before you die is not a new idea, and that movie was boring, predictable, and very cliché.
Aside from the movie, thanks for the links! Though because I don’t plan to die (I know from previous posts that you’re a fan of eternal living as well, though I don’t know of your personal wishes in regards to this) such a list could never be completed if I made one. I have to put a time frame on every to-do list I make, whether it be a hour, a day, a week, a year, or twenty years. While I still have a few issues with eternal living that I haven’t really heard any good answers for, without a definite end date my list will probably never be completed. If I do make such a list, and I do die, I will most likely never have gotten around to the things on it.

Hi Davina – Edinburgh Castle is awesome. I have been a few times and I’m guessing it probably is haunted. And you still have plenty of time to tour Europe in the future.
It sounds like the space thing could become possible – and it’s bound to be less costly after a while. I went in a space simulator and it terrified me – I’m not sure I could cope with the real thing.

I see your point on timescales. Another problem with that scenario would be only putting down things you wanted to do in the next 20 years. What if you died once you’d completed them all, because you had nothing left on your list?

This is an amazingly-researched post, but then again. I am coming to expect nothing but supreme effort on your blog, Cath.
Not that you asked, but here are my Personal Top Ten.
1. To one day have grand-kids who can’t get enought of me, but will leave me alone when I’m tired and / or cranky.
2. To win an Oscar for a song.
3. To have Leonard Cohen tell me he thinks my songs (and me,) are awesome.
4. To live in a nice finished house, doesn’t have to be a mansion. (15 years of constant,) house remodeling has left me a bit tired of it all.
5. Spend 6 months respectively wandering Australia, Europe, South America, Asia and Africa with my husband and daughter and us never getting on each others’ nerves or having so much as a little tiff. (and allowing about a year in between trips to get a nice breather from traveling)
6. To help place orphans in loving homes for many happily ever afters.
7. To live in NY for a while too, up in a big loft apartment and sight see almost every day.
8. Win a big poetry prize.
9. Have my hubby get his radio station up and going.
10. Help end wars and hunger.

You know Cath – when people talk of bucket lists and other similar life lists, I have visions of people banging around trying to do all these things “before they die” – would they still want to do them if they weren’t going to die?
Following intuition in the moment seems to totally go out the window, making it a really unhealthy way of approaching life, and therefore not likely to bring satisfaction, in my view.
You have a valuable list of resources there, for anyone who wants to do those things! (I shouldn’t rant – I know it’s just a way for people to get in touch with their dreams)

Hi Robin – I agree – there is definitely a happy balance between pre-planning and impulse. When we go on vacation, we usually plan to see the must see things at less busy times and leave the rest of our days open to whatever we feel like doing.
While I do think people would benefit from pre-planning and writing down their goals, like you – I would hate to see folk trying to squash everything in before they took their last mortal breathe.

Wow. What a list!
I respectfully disagree with Wesley above. I liked the movie. It was a feel-good movie with two amazing actors, and it even managed to trick me in the end (very, very few movies do that!).
I’m just not sure if I’m ready to put together a bucket list right now, because I don’t really want to think about why I’d be doing it… I like to think that “event” is a long, long, long, long, long way off.

I’d never considered the ‘bucket list’, before today. What a great idea. I wish I had thought of it years ago. I am filled with excitement and anticipation, even though it is 3:00 am. So many things are running through my mind I don’t know where to start. I needed a little inspiration.

In my own opinion having a bucket list is pretty useless, if you really want to do things do it by your own will not just because some reasons like your dying or whatsoever.
I recently wrote my own bucket list, if anyone’s looking for some sort of inspiration. Unlike the previous response to this article, I don’t find them useless. I’ve accomplished more since creating this list. It’s motivation! I’ve printed it and posted it on my billboard in my apartment so that it’s a constant reminder. I recommend it.
