Telling It Like It Is Since 1969

January 2, 2009

Happy New Year. Thanks to all of you who emailed and messaged me, to see if I was ok. I had a chest infection but I’m recovering now. And thanks for reading my stuff last year and voting my articles on StumbleUpon, even though you know I’m banned and can’t return the favour. It really is appreciated.

Also, a massive thanks to Lillie Ammann who has awarded me the honest scrap award for my honesty and willingness to tell it like it is. I won’t join in by sharing ten honest and interesting things about me, because I think I did enough of that last year.

And if you don’t know Lillie, do check out her blog, A Writers Words, An Editors Eye. She’s a remarkable woman who has done many things, including building and selling a business and publishing two novels. She has also suffered a stroke, which she managed to cure through prayer and she was once mugged at gunpoint and lived to share her experience.

Have a great year and if you’re considering starting a business this year, remember one thing: Your success won’t depend on having what it takes but on doing what it takes.

Hi Cath – Happy New Year! I hadn’t seen you around and was gone for a bit myself, so I was hoping that you were on an extended celebration. Instead, you’ve been sick, poor thing! Hope you’re on the mend and remember, Aunt Betsy’s vitamin C cure and regimen can make all the difference. Get some more rest over the weekend, hey?

    Cath,

Sorry to hear you’ve been ill and glad you are on the road to recovery. Like Betsy, I was hoping you were taking a little time off during the holidays.

Thanks for the kind words about me and for your words of wisdom in the last sentence of your post..

Keep telling it like it is!

I really like the quote at the end of this post. It made me stop and think for a minute. I would also like to say that this is my new favorite blog as I have already learned so much

Hi Cath, I’m happy to hear you are feeling better. I love your quote relating to doing what it takes and I look forward to doing what it takes in 2009.

Oh no! I assumed you just took some time off!

    Glad you’re feeling better.

I think people vote for your articles in social media because they’re so good. It’s not always about a give-and-take relationship.

Hope you have a great 2009, Cath.

Happy New Year Cath. Humph, all this time I thought you were basking on a sunny beach in Mexico somewhere.

I’m sorry you’ve been ill. I hope you’re recovering well. I know a great recipe that a native elder gave me years ago. It involves garlic, lemons, and onions… and a little brandy… if you are interested, let me know and I’ll send it to you. If that sounds too scary… fresh ginger tea is also very helpful.

I feel bad now that I didn’t email you… I’ve emailed you in the past when you’ve “disappeared” and this time I felt like it would look like I was stalking you :-) If there is anything you need, please let me know.

Hi Andy – thank you. And a happy new year to you too.

Hi Betsy – Happy new year. I didn’t forget. I didn’t take the vitamins but I’ve eaten plenty oranges.

Hi Lillie – Happy New Year and thank you. I did start to write my ten things. But I’m hopeless at writing when I’m feeling ill. Thanks for nominating me though. I loved reading your list of honest scraps – you’re a wonderful inspiration.

Hi Mike – thank you. And happy new year too.

Hi MM – the time off wasn’t intentional but I’m recovering now. Happy new year.

Hi Atchisson Happy New Year and thank you. I noticed you’d been reading a few posts and I’m glad you’re enjoying them. And I’m glad you enjoyed that quote – it’s all true. You don’t need super powers, you just need to get stuff done.

Hi Stacey – Happy New Year. I know you can do it. I checked in on your Boxing Day brainstorming and you’re definitely heading in the right direction.

Hi Vered – Happy new year and thanks for your lovely email. I just read it today. And thanks for your kind words – I know you stumble many of my posts and it’s really appreciated.

Your blog is amazing too – it’s took off far faster than any other blog I’ve read this year. I love the way you show folk how easy it is to be manipulated by the media and advertising.

Hi Davina – LMAO – when would I ever think you were a stalker? I like the sound of that recipe. I did buy a heap of antibiotics when I was in Mexico, so they came in useful (we can’t get them over the counter here). But your recipe does sound fab.

Hi Cath: I hope you feel 100% better soon. Wow, those stumbleupon people really are serious when they ban someone. You’d think they’d have let up by now. Happy 2009 Cath :-)

Hi Mare – Thank you and Happy New Year. Folk say I should just rejoin SU with another account but I worry that they’d notice and boot me out again.

Hi Cath, I did a double-take when I saw your headline for obvious reasons. I also assumed you were just taking some time off over the holidays, and it didn’t occur to me at all that you might not be feeling well.

I’m glad you’re feeling better, and I want to wish you and yours a Happy New Year! Just don’t go making any of those absurd new year’s resolutions that no one sticks to anyway.

Hi Lin – Sorry, I didn’t think when chose the title. Happy New Year. I know what you mean about resolutions. I never make them.

Hi Jannie – Happy New Year. I thought you were much younger than me. You don’t look very old in your pics on your about page.

    hi Cath,
Happy New Year and sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well. I would rather of heard that you were in the Caribbean interviewing the concrete king, but oh well. I’ve feel like I’ve been sick off and on for the last 3 months, but that’s what happens with little kids in school. Argghhh.
    Here’s to a great 2009!

I’ve really been behind the 8 ball – I didn’t know you were sick. Glad you are better!
