Don’t be a Thinker If You Want Success

March 19, 2006

Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t be a thinker at all. On the contrary, you should, and will think all the time. As Napoleon Hill said, in Think and Grow Rich, thoughts become things. And he was on the ball - thoughts do become things. But only if we act on those thoughts.

The phrase “knowledge is power” has been so overused it’s become a cliche. And the funny thing is, it’s not completely true, because all the knowledge in the world won’t give us power, if we don’t do something with it.

How often have you heard folk say, “I’ve got a book in my head”. What’s the use of a book in one’s head? It might well be the next Pulitzer prize winner, but if it stays in the head, it’s really not much use.

Most people think and learn far more than they can remember, which isn’t a lot of use either. Try spending a couple of hours on Sunday doing nothing but thinking, then, the following weekend, try to remember what you thought about. If you can’t remember, it was a wasted couple of hours.

How often have you had ideas that seemed brilliant, then you forgot about them a few days later? If you’re like me, you’ve probably lost count. No matter how great an idea seems, if we fail to write it down, or act upon it, the memory quickly fades.

The point is, thoughts can become things - great things, if you do something with those thoughts. If you want to build a successful home based business, write down every good idea that comes into your head. It doesn’t matter if you never use that idea. Lots of ideas that seem good at the time, suck after you’ve given them a bit more thought. But if you can find one great idea in every hundred and you do something with it - you’ll put yourself on a fasttrack to success.

I find it useful to keep a small notebook with me, to jot those fleeting ideas down. I also keep it by your bed, as some of the best ideas often come upon wakening. .
