Home Business - Are you Organised?

April 22, 2006

Do you find that there are not enough hours in the day to do all that you need to do in your home business? Do you find yourself flitting from one task to the other without completing any? If so, you’re facing the same problem as many home business owners and you need to get organised.

1) Allocate specific times of the day for working - and just do it. Tell family and friends that you will be working during those hours, and don’t want to be disturbed. Ignore unwanted callers, and don’t answer the telephone, unless your business relies on it.

2) Make a list each evening of all the business tasks you need to complete the next day. Mark them with a highlighter pen as you complete each one. This is more effective than merely crossing out each task as it is completed - you feel as if you have achieve something when you see all the highlighted lines.

3) Delegate some tasks, or outsource them where possible. If you need content for your site, but don’t have time to write it, because you’re too busy marketing, outsource some of the work to a freelance writer. If you don’t feel comfortable about doing this, remember the profits from 100 people doing an average job will be greater than the profits of one person doing an exceptional job.
