Home Biz Interview with Katherine Kalolo - Marketing Domestic Diva

April 14, 2006

In the latest of my home business interviews, Katherine Kalolo Ahching shares her experience and wisdom. You can discover more about Katherine’s business, Marketing Diva’s Today at http://www.whoiskatherinekalolo.com

How long have you been in business? I have been working at home since i was 18 years old on and off with networkmarketing.

What were your start up costs? Depends.I market a little different then most. I have a free to join program to back people into who cant afford the traditional cost of $500-$1500 investment.

How do you find customers?
solo ads
Enzines
Leads
Advertisment on WAHM boards
3 liner classifieds ads is my thing!
I dont believe in flyers, cards, chasing after your family and friends.

Why did you want to go in business for yourself? I have been a business owner every since i was 18 because i had my kids early. I knew i needed the free of lifestyle to be a good mom and provide for my family.

How many hours per week do you work on your business? 5- 25

Do you have a business plan? Not at all …my business plan is make a connection with 5 people a day and get on that phone with prospects.

What have you found toughest about running your own business? I find it tough even with a supportive family, if you have a lot on your plate sometimes your family can start resenting everytime you go to your office or get on the phone. There has to be a thin line. A balance.

How long before you were able to pay yourself - or, are you able to pay yourself yet?
First Day. I never stick in a business that doesnt pay me.Period!

What business mistake have you made that you won’t make again? Getting with a company that takes advantage of Networkmarketers. Read the policy and procedures before you get with any company. If its build around corporate then your in for a real treat. If they have Gotchya’s in the policy then at anytime they can steal your downline and cut you out what you have worked hard for. Alot of companies out there are not MLM, Networkmarketing friendly. You want to make sure you have freedom to work with any company you want at anytime. That the products you sell dont conflict with anything else you do on the side. Watch out for that. I will read the policy and procedure’s next time and i wont work as hard. You can do the same amount of work in 2 hours that most sit around on the computer or phone for 8-12 hours doing. There is always tomorrow.

Could you ever go back to having a job? Depends. I would have to have control, freedom and 10K a month.I have gotten very spoiled.

What advice would you give to others who are just starting out? You have to get on that phone and make a connection with people. You wont go anywhere if you dont. You want to make Goals and always have your pipeline full. This means that you have appointments or people to talk to on a daily basis to show your program too. Education is a big thing. Dont expect miracles when you havent learned the skills it takes to get to the top. Leader’s Dont pass out flyer’s. Stand out and be a leader. You want to hit the top running. Dont take no for a answer and stand out in the crowd. Always go against the grain and trust your own judgement. Think for yourself. Home Biz Interview with Linda Chisnall of Ameriplan

April 14, 2006

After almost five years into her Ameriplan business, Linda Chisnall is happy to share her home business knowledge with us. Linda’s site address is: http://HealtHelpAtHome.com

How long have you been in business? I have been with the company since Aug 2001.

What were your start up costs? $95 or $295 It depends on how you want to build your business.

How do you find customers? It depends on if someone wants to Save money or Make money. I generate my own leads by advertising mainly online.

Why did you want to go in business for yourself? I have 3 children. I wanted to be able to be there for them without having to ask permission from an employer.

How many hours per week do you work on your business? 25+

Do you have a business plan? Yes, I do. I think it’s a must.

What have you found toughest about running your own business? Staying focused and finding ways to balance business and family.

How long before you were able to pay yourself - or, are you able to pay yourself yet? I made my initial investment back in my first 30 days. My monthly residual checks keep growing.
What business mistake have you made that you won’t make again? I have tried other businesses along the way. I would join a customer and then try to do the business to cover my costs for the products. I always came back to Ameriplan because it was funding the others, but it took away much needed time that I should have spent working my primary business.

Could you ever go back to having a job? I really don’t believe I could. Mainly because I know now that working from home is a reality and it can be done if you want it bad enough. What it has brought to my family has been priceless.

What advice would you give to others who are just starting out? Don’t let anyone take your dreams away. I don ‘t care who it is. Follow your heart and do what is right for you. Believe in your business and in yourself!
