Business Turnaround

June 15, 2007

My top small business website of the week goes to Business Turnaround.  We all want to get repeat business and heaps of referalls, and this blog provides some invaluable information on providing customer service that delights. Today’s post gives some brilliant ideas on how ordinary businesses can go the extra mile to encourage word of mouth marketing.

Going the extra mile is vital to any business. Many small business owners are under the illusion that just doing a good job will be enough to encourage zillions of word of mouth referals. Unfortunately, this rarely happens. Customers like to talk, and they love to talk about interesting things. If you own a garage, a customer may mention to a friend who is looking for a reliable mechanic, that you did a good job when you repaired her car. However, if you also valeted the car for free, she is more likely to say to her friends and family, “Guess what, ABC repairs fixed my car today, and when I collected it they’d valeted for free.”

For more ideas on things you can do to encourage your customers to rave about you to your family and friends, be sure to check out Business Turnaround.

    Cath,

We should talk! Word of mouth is a passion of mine.

I’m wary of putting in a contact number on a blog - I’m new to it and despite being in IT, I’m usually quite brave. But not on blogs!

I’m a complete dunce - when I put an email address on blogs like this, I don’t quite know who gets them so you may not know my email address and I can’t include it here!

I would love an email chat at least so how about safe one for you to send a safe one to?

Please feel free to delete this comment if the spammers are getting cleverer and can put that together!

Hi Ian - Hopefully the spammers didn’t get that clever yet, but I’ll edit it just incase, as I have a copy of all subscribers email addresses. Then I’ll drop you an email with my phone number some time today.

Got something to say?
