Reaching Over The Fence
September 5, 2008
It’s easy to feel hemmed in - especially if you’re working from home. But the Internet gives you the opportunity to reach over the fence and connect with other people.
If you’ve just started blogging, Michael Martine is inviting you to launch your blog. Why not pop over and introduce yourself? Your blog doesn’t have to be new - he even let me join. And it’s a great opportunity to meet new people and drive traffic to your own blog. I’m slowly working my way through Michael’s list, over a few days, as there’s lots of people on there.
It’s easy to connect with folk who have similar interests to us. But don’t discount those blogs with topics you’re new to, or the ones who’s authors have a different opinion to you. As Barbara Swafford pointed out today, this sort of reading can expand your knowledge base and help you to grow.
The following articles have done that for me recently:
The Final Chapter Part 8627 (give or take……): Rita has been running a series on the Bible. I must admit, I read the Bible when I was younger, but didn’t really understand a lot of it. There was some really wacky goings on back then and Rita’s descriptions would rival any soap opera.
Butt To Gutt Ratio Gone Wild: Valerie Morrison thinks out loud and she always cracks me up. In this blog post she explains how it’s easy to exercise when you forget to switch the machine on.
Akashic Record Readings: A little while ago, Akemi Gaines accessed my Akashic Records, to carry out a soul reading. In this interesting interview, Akemi explains to Hunter Nuttall why she can’t track down Hitler but she can make sure he doesn’t marry him.
Do you reach out over the fence? What ways have you used to connect with others on the Internet?

Got something to say?

Actually, I think Akemi can marry Hitler after he finishes his clearing homework–though it might take more than 21 days for him! Thanks for the link.
Hunter Nuttall’s last blog post..Akashic Record Reading With Akemi Gaines, Part 1
Valerie’s post was HILARIOUS.
I reach over the fence in the sense that my blogging friends are from varied places and backgrounds. It’s one of the best things about blogging: connecting with people that I would never have met otherwise.
Vered - MomGrind’s last blog post..Quirky, Yet Boring
Hi Catherine,
Thanks for the mention. I’ve read all of the posts you’ve highlighted. It’s a good mix of learning, laughter and intrigue.
I love how I can learn so many new things by visiting blogs and stretching my brain at the same time. I never want to stop learning.
Barbara Swafford’s last blog post..Open Mic - The Need For Speed
Hi Vered - it was great wasn’t it. It is great to be able to meet people from all over the world isn’t it. I love it too.
Hi Barbara - you’re welcome. Hope you didn’t mind me repeating some of the stuff you said. I thought it would be a great way to encourage folk to take Michael up on his generous offer and reach over the fence.
There’s so much great stuff out there to learn isn’t there. Only trouble is, I sometimes spend way too much time reading.
Hi Cath,
I also have been reading the blogs on Michael’s site and wrote a post yesterday about him, Naomi and Barbara highlighting how much they are doing for others in the blogging community. I think they are a prime examples of bloggers reaching over the fence to help others.
I also agree with Vered, the chance to read each others blogs and meet people from all over the worls is amazing, I love it. My world has become so much more expanded since I have joined the blogging community!

Hi, thank you for the mention.
Hunter’s interview was great. He obviously put in a lot of thoughts forming those deep questions. It was a good exercise for me, too.
Didn’t know the Hitler question would make such a hit, though . . .
Akemi - Yes to Me’s last blog post..A Year Without Paychecks
Hi Wendi - I read your post, it was a great way of thanking those people. Barbara’s New Blogger Of The Week has helped so many new bloggers connect. It’s astonishing to watch how fast their blogs grow when they join her community.
Hi Akemi - You’re welcome. It was a brilliant interview wasn’t it and I think the questions and answers did an excellent job of explaining how Akashic record reading works.
I was LMAO when I read the Hitler question. I hadn’t really thought about Hitler’s soul being around us now, let alone actually marrying the owner. I think it’s a great reason for getting a reading done on a prospective spouse.
Hi Cath, glad you enjoyed the post, thanks for the mention. I will remember to turn on and start all machines next week. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice….lol
thanks also for the link on blog traffic, i will go check that out right now. have a good weekend.
Natural’s last blog post..Butt-to-Gutt Ratio Gone Wild
I reach over the fence by reading and commenting on other blogs that I like. Often, I’ll find new and great blogs through the comments bloggers have left at other sites I already visited. It’’s a great way for me to keep reaching over fences. You never know what you’ll find on the other side. Often, I find stuff that is just amazing! And that includes your stuff Cath!
Lance’s last blog post..Lost In This Great Big World
Hi Valerie you’re welcome. It was an hilarious story. You’re welcome for the link - hope it helps. The ebook is free but I got the extra stuff. You get an overwhelming amount of things, so it takes a lot of studying to work out how to make it work for you.
Hi Lance - That is a great way to find bloggers you like. And thanks for the compliment about my stuff too
