Achieve Business Success By Being …..

December 10, 2008

To achieve business success, it’s good to be bold, creative, confident and self motivated. But these attributes alone, can’t guarantee business success - there’s one more thing you need.

You Need To Be Useful. Forget doing what you think will bring you the most money, or fame and concentrate on providing something that will be amazingly useful to a particular group of people.

That means starting with your potential customers in mind. What problems do they have and what do they want and need most?

Concentrating on being useful doesn’t mean ignoring your own passions either. It’s far easier to be useful, if you love what you’re doing. And there’s almost always more than one way to serve your customers needs and still achieve business success.

If you’re not sure whether you’ve found a useful solution to people’s problems, ask yourself these questions:

  • Does the problem exist? How Do You Know? Have You Done Any Research?

  • Are there other products available that provide a solution to this problem? If so, what makes yours better?

  • What benefits will the customer receive when they use your product or service?

  • Can you produce a product, or service that is within the budget of your target market? Think about this carefully.

Say your target market is low to medium income families, the benefit of your product is that it will save them thirty minutes a week. If the product is expensive to produce and you’ll need to charge $10,000 for it, they’re probably not going to find it useful. And your business is not going to be a success.

If you’re struggling to answer the questions yourself, ask people but make sure you ask folk who you can trust to give you honest feedback. Your business success depends on it.

PS: Some of you know Michael Martine, over at Remarkablogger. Well, he has had a really nasty car accident. When you see the pic, he’s lucky to be alive. Trouble is, he really can’t afford to replace the car. So he’s holding a free webinar on Friday - but donations are welcome.

If you want some great blogging advice, the webinar is a brilliant opportunity. You can read about it here and also see the crash scene pic. When you see it, you’ll realise how lucky he has been.

I’m Not A Bloody Fortune Teller But….

December 7, 2008

I can tell which new and aspiring business owners are going to be successful, by their attitude towards their business in the run up to Christmas. If you find yourself saying “bugger it” nobody buys my stuff at this time of year, so I’ll wind things down a bit - there’s a good chance that your little biz won’t be around this time next year.

Ok, if you’re not in retail, there may not be a huge demand for what you sell right now. But if that’s the case, you should be working flat out, so you can dazzle your customers at the beginning of January.

Christmas is just one day - so what’s the point in wasting weeks preparing for it? Will Jesus love you more, if you celebrate his birthday spending every spare hour shopping for crap and getting into a pile of debt? And is it really a good use of your time to spend hours wondering whether you should stick an onion, or stuffing up the turkey’s ass?

If you’re still nowhere near getting started on your new business, take advantage of some of this free business advice, sales and special offers and start 2009 with a bang. Here’s some ideas for you to consider, depending on your plans and what stage you’re at right now. And don’t waste time reading them all. Just go straight to the one that applies to you.

The Secret Business Success Formula

November 17, 2008

There’s a secret business success formula and you won’t have a cat in hell’s chance of business success, unless you follow it. Maybe you already know what that formula is.

If you don’t, how much would you pay me for that secret formula, if it was guaranteed to make your business a success? Would it be worth $50, $500, $5000, or even $50,000? It might even be worth more. After all, if I can give you a formula that guarantees you business success, the sky’s the limit right?

But I know what you’re thinking. A nice girl like me, will probably give you that business success formula for free. And you’re right.

The Secret Formula For Business Success That Really Works

F + T (-DC + R) = YB +MLH x MP or MC.

So what does that Secret Formula For Business Success mean in English?

Find a product or service that people want or need.
Test and Tweak your product and sales and marketing, until it’s working really well.
Dump the crap that doesn’t work (either the product, marketing or sales method).
Repeat the testing and tweaking until you have something that works well.
Make this the basis for your business.
Market your product or service like hell.
Then find more related products for the customers you already have OR
More customers for the product or service you already have.

Straightforward enough isn’t it? But it’s not easy. You’ve got to put in a heap of hard work. And anyone who tries to sell you a business success formula, claiming it’s easy, is just out to scam you.

Yes, you still need to acquire additional knowledge, both in business and your chosen niche. But none of that knowledge will make your business successful - your success is down to you and your hard work and determination.

Lots of folk will buy an book, or course, which promises to teach them to be a business rock star. Then when it doesn’t make them a business success overnight, they’ll buy one business success formula after another.

And instead of working on what they’ve learned until it works, they’ll waste a heap of money on books, or info products they didn’t really need and still be nowhere near achieving business success.

Stop Learning How To Be A Business Success And Start Doing

Now I don’t mean stop learning completely. But don’t keep reading book after book on business, at the expense of getting started. Many people spend years doing just that.

For example, I enjoyed reading the 7 Day Ebook. It’s cheap and simple to follow and it does what it says on the tin - shows you how to write and sell an ebook in 7 days.

But it’s obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that to actually write an ebook in 7 days, you’re going to have to work flat out on that book and nothing else until you’re done. And that didn’t bother me. All I wanted to learn was how to write an ebook pretty damn fast, as being organised is not one of my natural skills.

So, I was surprised when I read a few negative reviews on the book. And a couple of the reviewers said they were now trying more expensive products, which would work a lot better for them.

Then it dawned on me, they were “trying” more expensive products. They still hadn’t written an Ebook in 7 Days. And that is where most folk go wrong. They’re looking for some magical success formula and when they don’t get instant results, they move on to the next miracle product, or book.

It’s pretty obvious that to write an ebook in 7 days, you’ll need to have quite a bit of knowledge on your chosen topic, unless you’re willing to spend a lot of extra time doing the required research. And no book or course on the subject is going to teach you to write like Hemmingway, or actually write the book for you.

And I’m betting that if you spend a couple of hundred dollars on an e-course, or thousands of dollars on a residential course (yes, I have seen courses that charge that much), they won’t write the book for you either.

To Achieve Business Success, Learn One Thing At A Time

If you want to achieve business success, you’d be far better off using the success formula, I mentioned above. Also, acquire the knowledge you need but study one thing at a time and don’t overwhelm yourself by learning things before you need them. There’s no point in studying an instructors course on body building, before you’ve even set foot in a gym.

And don’t be tempted to waste money on additional products that teach you the same thing, over and over. While repetitiveness can be useful and you do need to do a bit of learning on your road to business success, you don’t need to learn the same old things, in several different formats.

If it’s online business that you want to learn, one of the most comprehensive packages is the Online Business school. You’ll learn six different ways to make money online and it’s far less costly than buying seperate products that teach you how to do this.

If you know you suck at learning from books, consider enrolling on an online course instead, to get a bit more support.

And if you’re not much good at motivating yourself to get through an online course, then you might consider one on one instruction, or a residential course.

But be honest with yourself regarding your capablities and don’t waste time and money trying all three.

Remember - the only thing that can guarantee you business success, is you, your self-belief and the time and effort you put in.

Be A Business Success Story, No Matter What Your Age

October 7, 2008

You can be a business success story, no matter how old you are. Online business has broken all age barriers that may have limited your chances of success in the past. And now, everybody from teenagers to pensioners has a level playing ground.

Recently, I read this amazing story about 75 year old Jerrold Foutz. He added Google Adsense to his website - four years ago and makes $25,000 a year, which equals his Boeing retirement cheque. You should check out his site. It’s another great example of how even the worst looking websites can make money.

And Hope Pryor didn’t let “empty nest syndrome” get her down after her kids left home. Instead, she achieved business success by putting her favourite recipes online at her Cooks Recipe site and now makes $90,000 a year, mostly from Google Adsense.

But it’s not just the oldies who’ve found online business success. The story of Ashley Qualls hit the headlines last year. At seventeen years old, she became a millionaire, through her online business, WhateverLife, which she started at the age of 14, with $8.

Ben Cathers wasn’t even a teenager when he started his first online advertising agency. The twelve year old built the business until he had two offices and ten employees then sold it. Since then, he’s had several business successes - he also owned a syndicated radio show and a search engine technology company - all before he was twenty years old. Ben is 24 now and he has more projects on the go than most folk would take on in a lifetime.

There’s no doubt that the Internet has made it possible for folk of all ages to become a business success story. After all - we don’t often see the face of a person behind an online business we’re dealing with.

If you were making a major purchase online, would it worry you if you discovered the business owner was 13 years old, or pushing 80? Or would you be willing to give the business a chance, so long as they delivered what they promised?
